There is no shortage of crises in the world, and every year seems to bring new problems into focus. Continuing the theme from earlier versions of this course, “Global Hotspots: The Newest Chapter” will introduce a new lineup of areas creating turbulence in global politics, including current issues in Northern Ireland, Iran, Ukraine, Taiwan, and Ethiopia. Each week we will examine a different case study in depth, looking not only at foundational causes of the crisis but also regional impacts and possible outcomes. One lecture will also be devoted to updates on case studies from previous versions of this course.

Member Praise for "Global Hotspots"

This was such a great class — I learned so much about key hotspots and Zook gave such great background for understanding the complexity and stakes faced by these countries.

Another wonderful class from Zook that provided an impressive amount of historical background with a clear easy to follow explanation of current challenges and conflicts in multiple areas of the globe. The range of knowledge, thorough understanding of and the ability to share all material covered in such an organized and interesting manner is amazing and greatly appreciated.

We take all available courses from Zook — he is the best!
