From Constraint to Creativity: Understanding Resilience on Our Planet and in Our Lives, with Bree Rosenblum

Why are some people, species, ecosystems, and social systems more resilient than others?  And how can we cultivate resilience on our planet and in our lives? Berkeley Professor of Global Change Biology Bree Rosenblum will share recent work on the theme of resilience. She will discuss advances in biodiversity science and her team’s efforts to bring an endangered species back from the brink of extinction, as well as explore the link between biodiversity science and our lives. Addressing all thorny challenges — social, political, ecological, and personal — requires a shift from conflict and constraint into courage and creativity. She will share an approach from her new book to fostering resilience across these different arenas of our lives.
