Russia’s War on Ukraine: Fall 2023 Update with Michael Baker and Anastasia Edel
Russia’s war on Ukraine is in its second year, with casualties mounting on both sides and with no signs of abating.
This online talk will start with the assessment of the war from the military campaign viewpoint and discuss key developments of the spring-fall Ukrainian counteroffensive, including its pace, results to date, and Russia’s ongoing attacks on Ukrainian civilians. We will then talk about the June Wagner/Prigozhin’s paramilitary coup, and its effect on the war and on Putin’s “vertical of power.” Finally, we will debate the prospects and appropriateness of a “peace deal” between Ukraine and Russia.
