Modern building in Copenhagen shimmering alongside water

For Europeans, Denmark is the gateway to the Northern territories. A small country with a pronounced design literacy, it is home to architects of world renown. Arne Jacobsen and Jørn Utzon (known for his Sydney Opera House) — two of the most prominent masters of the 20th century — are based in Copenhagen. Its tradition of design excellence continues today with firms such as BIG and 3XN. This course will examine the socio-cultural conditions and the outsized personalities that made this city a required destination for architectural acculturation and enjoyment

Member Praise for Pierluigi Serraino

Pierluigi is a wonderful instructor — I always learn something new from him, as well as something new to think about. He always opens my eyes!

Course materials, organization, Pierluigi's deep knowledge of the specific area and ability to fit it into larger context of regional traditions and international design trends, and receptivity to participant questions & observations ... all great! Highly recommend!
