Rome continues to renew its cultural and artistic relevance as the centuries go by. This class will bring the Italian capital city to life through the exploration of Roman architecture, urban planning, art, and cinema. Lectures and guest presentations will enrich participants’ perspective of a metropolis that remains deeply aware of its past as it moves forward.


Pierluigi Serraino is a practicing architect and educator. The author of many books on architecture, including TASCHEN's Modernism Rediscovered and Monacelli's The Creative Architect, his articles and projects have appeared in Architectural Record, The Architectural Review, Perspecta, Abitare, A+U, ACADIA, and the Journal of Architectural Education.
