This course will analyze how the engagement of individual citizens differs from, and complements, traditional diplomatic relationships between national governments. We will also debate the question of what “citizen diplomacy” achieves. The instructor, the executive director of a federal agency dedicated to global people-to-people engagement, will be joined by other experts from the field for a lively discussion.
Jane Sargus is the executive director of Open World Leadership Center and has served in the United States federal government for more than 40 years.
