Colorful connections in the shape of a brain

The goal of this course is to enable members to better understand the functions of their own brains. Each lecture will begin with an introduction to a basic neuroscience topic, followed by a discussion of related clinical concepts. Topics explored include: stroke, vision, neurodegeneration and proteinopathies, and spinal cord injury. Note: This course is intended for a general audience. No prior training in the biological sciences is required.


Faculty Bio

Peter Ralston is the former chair of UCSF’s Department of Anatomy, where he was a professor. During his 35-year career at UCSF, he directed the medical school’s course in neuroscience and ran an NIH-supported research lab.
