Let's Fall in Love: From Mozart to Ravel

Throughout history, love has inspired music across cultures and genres. This course explores how composers use melody, harmony, texture, form, and orchestration to express this powerful emotion in the classical tradition. Schubert, Bernstein, and Bizet portray romantic love, while Stravinsky, Bartok, and Ives explore love of land. Vivaldi, Beethoven, and Messiaen express a deep connection to nature. Rachmaninoff reveals love of art, and Verdi and Handel evoke spiritual devotion.
