In fewer than 20 years, the Internet, smart phones, and social media have become global and ubiquitous. Like the (far slower) rise of movable type six centuries ago, these technological advances have altered not only what we think about, but how we think and speak. In this course, we will explore these changes and consider how we, personally and in community, can react.
Michael Goldhaber is a former theoretical physicist who developed a focus on the socio-cultural implications of computer technology in the mid-1980s. He popularized the term “attention economy” in 1997 and has written extensively about the impact of the Internet.
This is a Livestreamed + Recorded Course
