Join us for a talk by Raed Charafeddine, a former first vice-governor at Lebanon's central bank, who will shed light on the realities, challenges, and opportunities of Arab governance across four different understandings of the concept: historical, governmental, economic, and sociocultural. The discussion will be facilitated by Dariush Zahedi, Director of the AMENA Center for Building Innovation Economies in the Middle East at Berkeley's Haas School of Business. This event is co-sponsored by the Berkeley-AMENA Center for Entrepreneurship and Development.
About the Speaker
Raed H. Charafeddine was first vice-governor at Banque du Liban, Lebanon’s central bank, from April 2009 through March 2019 and served as alternate Governor for Lebanon at the International Monetary Fund. He has served on numerous NGO boards focused on alleviating poverty, improving education, healthcare, social justice, and women's empowerment, as well as consulted for the United Nations Development Program in Beirut on conflict transformation.
