The San Francisco Bay Area’s natural beauty and social history have inspired photographers from the time photography was invented. To create San Francisco: Portrait of City, author and photo researcher Richie Unterberger selected the most striking images that document the Bay Area’s history. This course will use photography to examine the evolution of Bay Area architecture, music, political activism, and landscapes from 1850 to the present, and feature work by some of the most internationally renowned photographers of several eras.
Richie Unterberger is the author of numerous art and music history books and has taught courses on rock and soul at OLLI for six years.
