Rideshare/Carpooling

We encourage OLLI members to rideshare! Our member listerve, OLLI Berkeley Connections, is an excellent way to find a carpool to class.

Parking

Most metered parking in downtown Berkeley is set for a maximum of two hours. There are several parking garages near OLLI class locations:

  • Oxford Garage, 2165 Kittredge Street (between Oxford Street & Shattuck)
  • Berkeley Way at Shattuck

The Center Street Garage is scheduled to reopen in August 2018. For parking alternatives, see the Downtown Berkeley Association's parking map. For construction information, see the City of Berkeley's web page.

Disabled Parking

The City of Berkeley offers free parking at city garages for registered Disabled Parking placards and license plates, and invites all parking patrons who have a valid Disabled Parking placard or plate to apply for an access keycard for use at City-owned garages.

Bicycle Parking

We recommend locking your bicycle (both wheels plus the frame) to a rack or other stationary object. The East Bay Bicycle Coalition has tips for bicycle theft prevention.

There is also free valet bicycle parking available at the Bart Bike Station, located at 2208 Shattuck Avenue.

Bicycles are not allowed inside the Freight and Salvage, the David Brower Center, the Magnes Collection, or the Lafayette Library and Learning Center. In University Hall and other areas of the UC Berkeley campus, bicycles may not be parked in corridors, stairwells, ramps, or any location where emergency exits or ADA accessibility might be impeded.
