Program summary
In the heart of Havana, join local artists, performers, dancers and students for an intimate and insightful look at the arts, dance, and music of Cuba. Discuss the local art scene with artists and learn about art education with students and instructors. Music and dance come to life as you attend rehearsals and private performances with well-known Cuban community dance companies and musicians.

Each trip will be limited to 24 people, including the OLLI instructor. Travelers will be responsible for transportation to and from Miami.

Program highlights

  • Meet with members of the Havana Artist Collaborative to discuss their work and the role of art in Cuba.
  • Attend a rehearsal by a Cuban dance company and enjoy an opportunity to speak with the dancers about their performance.
  • Visit a local art school and learn about Cuban education as you meet with students and teachers.

Program price
Double Occupancy: $3,995 per person
Single Occupancy: $4,495 per person

Program price includes

  • 8 nights at hotels in Miami, Havana and Varadero
  • Orientation meeting in Miami
  • Charter flights: Miami to Cuba, Cuba to Miami
  • All program fees, presentations, activities, gratuities, and airport transfers

Accommodations
Courtyard by Marriott Miami Airport South Hotel - 1 night
The hotel offers a free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel (a 10-minute ride).

Hotel Nacional de Cuba - 5 nights
Four Star Hotel – Havan. Located in the center of the city, the hotel stands on a hill just a few meters from the sea, and offers a great view of Havana Harbor, the sea wall, and the city. The Hotel Nacional de Cuba was declared a National Monument and was inscribed in the World Memory Register.

Meliá Las Americas - 2 nights
Located beachfront on Varadero Beach, near the Plaza America Convention Center. A five-star, all-inclusive resort.

NOTE: At least 20 travelers are required in each group for the tour price. These tours are expected to fill. However, if a trip does not reach the minimum, an amended price will be offered so that the tour can take place.

Road Scholar is authorized to travel to Cuba under OFAC License #CT-19201.

 

Alex Saragoza will be teaching a course called "Contemporary Cuba" at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center on Thursdays, 10:00 am-12:00 noon starting January 31, 2013.
