OLLI @Berkeley is an inquiring and stimulating community of adults, age 50 and above, exploring new areas of knowledge and traditional disciplines, challenging and fascinating subjects. There are no examinations or grades. Instructors are encouraged to teach the courses they have always wanted prompted by their enthusiasm for the topic and the heart of their expert knowledge. Such teaching is rewarded by the opportunity to work with mature and intelligent students drawn from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Their broad range of life experience and independence of thought challenge the instructor and enrich the exchange of ideas. Membership in OLLI @Berkeley means discovering new friends, new knowledge, new capacities, and new ways to bring meaning and enjoyment to our lives.
OLLI @Berkeley offers an ongoing program of six-week courses, weekly lecture series, and special events for the community as well as a creative forum for new ideas and expressions. OLLI provides older adults an intellectual, cultural and creative connection to Berkeley as well as a place for Berkeley's distinguished faculty and others to share their research and interests in an interdisciplinary exchange of ideas.
Membership in OLLI is a great value: $50 for the term or $100 for the academic year. Members enjoy a wide range of benefits, including enrollment options for more than 50 courses offered each year (fall, winter, spring). Course fees range from $75 to $125 per course, depending upon the number of courses taken each term.
Courses and events take place in a variety of venues on and around the University of California, Berkeley campus, all accessible by BART and with parking close by. The program is designed for those who want to spend the day at OLLI with courses organized in the morning and afternoon with time for lunch. Register early as space is limited.
