This course will provide an analytical overview of the American Right in the 20th century. How did it evolve? How is it evolving since the 1960s? What are the differences and similarities of the current American Right compared to other conservative movements in the West? Particular attention will be paid to the Tea Party movement.
Lawrence Rosenthal is executive director of the Center for Right-Wing Studies. Dr. Rosenthal has taught at UC Berkeley and was a Fulbright Professor. He is currently working on a study of the contemporary American Right in comparison to movements of the Right in 20th century Europe. His work has appeared in the Nation, the International Herald Tribune, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Sacramento Bee, Foreign Policy, and other venues.
